I'm tempted to get tickets for me and a friend for the Silverstone MotoGP this year, although i've never been to Silverstone, so I don't know what tickets to get - do I really need to get the expensive platinum/gold tickets to fully enjoy the day?

Has anyone been on general admission, is it good enough? Are you allocated a seat?

Gold/platinum tickets are good if you can afford them, reserved seat and guaranteed decent view. However, a similar view can be had if you get there early on general admission and set up camp.

When I mean get there early I mean before 6am!

If it was me I'd get a Silver ticket if it's your first time. A decent view but doesn't cost a fortune.

Ive been to Silverstone a lot for the F1. General admission on a bank has lots and lots of good spots, but you do have to be their uber early to setup your chair and stay put. Ive gone for a grandstand this year simply for the luxury of not having to rock up at 6am and having freedom to wander about yet still have a prime spot waiting for me.
