Want to buy some speakers. Im thinking 2.1 as i have the computer in a corner in my room so 5.1 would be awkard to setup. Can anyone recomend some good sounding speakers with really nice bass please. Price limit of erm 30-40 quid i think. Sub must be active not passive. And if possible a remote and/or knobs on sub or somit to adjust treble and bass and volume and stuff.

Also i would prefere black/silver or silver.

Bit the bullet and having heard good things about logitech x-530 and i found them going cheap i thought id buy em so there gona be here on the 9th hopefully, free delivery too hehe and only £40 :)

I have made a good choice havent I?

They were one of my possible choices, although 5.1 speakers for £40 won't be amazing. Thats why I picked the Philips ones in my other thread. They are 2.1, same price and have 30w more max power output. Reviews seem to be very possitive too.

Ah so they are good then, glad to hear i didnt make a mistake hehe. As 30-40 was my limit and these seemed the best offer compared to some major etailers i usually go to.

lol. Worse even that not being able to buy ** sister somit at xmas as no money and she gets ya a nice watch and gorrilaz demon days cd. Yeah probably best i not mention i bought some new speakers hehe and say its for somit else.

I got my Philips MMS430s earlier today, I must say I am very pleased with them.

I have been playing some CS:S and listening to lots of music since I got them and everything sounds brilliiant, crisp clear sound and very loud if they need to be ;)

The speakers and sub themselves are actually pretty small but very heavy and well built and also look absolutely brilliant.

Took 2 minutes to set up, wires are plenty long enough and you cant really go wrong.
Overall these are the best speakers I have ever seen for £40 and well worth it if anyone is looking for a 2.1 system on a budget, they sound better than my mates Logitech Z3s

Only downside is a slight amount of distortion at very high volume, but with 2x20 sattelites and a 60w sub (RMS) you never need to put them up that much anyway.

Looks nice dude, mine should be here tomorrow or the next day and then ill have to get a digi cam off sister to photo them.

Btw the sub looks smart and a lot bigger and longer than i thought i be. Is it a 5 1/2" sub cone?

It looks to be about that size, can't find the exact specs though.

They arrived :)

Took 20-30 mins to setup as my room and computers awkard.

Will photo it when i can mate.

Right.. The speakers are georgeous (sp). There aint much protecting the sats tho at front just a very flexable and thin like hair cloth covering the sats. The sub has a silver mesh of metal covering the subs cone. I'ts got a good weight and is turned up to 50% and packs a punch at that, if needed i can turn bass up via windows controls which if i did and have tryed it damn well thudded with pink floyds "comfortably numb" lol i had to put it back to 50% in windows control (not sub back control).

Im clueless as to how to configure 5.1 speakers if im honest so i will never know if there setup right or sounding right. I would love if someone could come and help but obviously would be difficult. I'll try someone i know maybe but i doubt there audiophillies and would know what "sounds right" for the speakers.

The cables are shorter than i had thought. The front speakers will not mount on the wall where i would like them to. Also same with back speakers. Could do with a few meters more cabling. I dunno anything about extending cables so if someone can clue me what i would need id appreciate it.

At the mo the fronts and center is on desk and monitor. The back left is on a cd rack top. The back right speaker is on the logitech box lol (so is about 3 ft high compared to back left is about 1 meter high.

I got the soundcard oem from a friend its a audigy 2 zs. The drivers download from creative site only installed drivers and crap audio control panel (not the control panel i was wanting as is probably on the original cd for the card. Im dl media center in hopes thats what it is im missing.

Anyone know any ways you can think of that will help me configure my speakers and perhaps a mp3 or somit that has 5.1 i can test out. Most difficulty would be bass and trebble levles im supose to have. At the mo i can only do it in whatever music player i use or windows advanced audio options. Currently windows advanced is 50 50 for each of bass and treble levels. Winamp for instance is currently using preset.

So far there cool speakers and sound nice. With help i should be able to have em sounding like the reviewers did which is probably best config.

Score about 7/10 7 cos of cable shorts and lack of treble control.
