I'm buying a 25kg set from Argos with the following :-

6 x 1.25kg.
6 x 2.5kg.
2 x 35.5cm spinlock hollow bars with rubber sleeves.
6 x spinlock collars.
1 x 165cm spinlock bar.

Can someone tell me what sort of packaging things like this come in? Will they be boxed up and easy to carry through the city?

Just so you know, spinlock is rediculously annoying. They fall off all the time.

30kg won't last you long either :)

Ant

It will be easy-ish, but you will probably be sweating like a pig if you have to walk a fair distance.

As mentioned 25kg is only really enough to work your bi's/tri's.

I've carried a 50kg set with a mate from the local Argos to where I was living at the time and although the total distance probably wasn't much more than a mile I felt pretty ruined after it. While to pick up the weight isn't necessarily hugely difficult it's having to cart it over the distance that gets wearing.

I got the 50kg set from Argos and slowly added to it as I progressed (didnt have much cash at the time). Im up to 150kg worth of weights, even though they're only the standard ones.

what brand did you get?

I got the Pro Power 50kg set. I just picked up the 2x10kg ones from their also, when I needed to add more weight. Ended up getting 2x20kg off the net too once I got more in to it. Even though the bar is supposed to only hold 120-125kg max, ive been happily putting 150kg without any hassle.

May need to invest in a properly Olympic set further down the line, but this set is ok for me so far :)
