I know there are a lot of DIY enthuiasts on here who hopefully can help on the matter! Im trying to get into car maintenance myself, obviously addressing the basic servicing needs of the vehicle intially, and then moving onto more challenging jobs as the needs arise.

I presently have no tools, other than a single 10mm spanner so im looking for advice on what to purchase, i dont want gold plated magic spanners that cost more than the car just real world opinions on whats worth getting, and where from so i dont buy rubbish tools.

I know I will need to get a socket set, and some people are reccomending spending the money and getting a 6 sided socket set, which is also confusing as i have no idea which ones are 6 sided and which are not!

Thanks very much :D

Wow! thanks for all the posts, ive noticd the halfords 150 piece set is currently £100 so i might take the plunge for that one as it seems pretty good value.

Hopefully give the volvo a good service and clean this weekend, and we can expect a thread with photos, although none of this detailing rubbish it takes to long!

Cheers

Ross
