Just a quick one as in all the excitement of buying something new I've forgotten to ask the stealership an obvious question.

I'm picking up a used-approved S1 tomorrow from Audi, with the new tax disc laws in effect does this mean I'm going to have to stump up the cash to tax the car immediately or should Audi sort this for me? Anyone bought a used car from Audi this month that might know?

Audi normally sort it out for you. I can't see it being any different because of the rule change unless they can no longer buy the tax on your behalf...Did they not ask you?

They cannot sell the car with the existing tax on it and unless you've negotiated it into the deal they won't be purchasing tax for you, either. Be prepared to tax it.

Yeah thought this might be the case. I'm gonna have to put my special negotiation face on tomorrow when I pick it up and contest that they should have told me about it.... worth a go. They can afford it.

Dealers can do it for you now, but you will be charged unless you haggle. I dont understand why they didnt ask you at the point of sale....thats pretty sloppy.

Sorry for the delay, been far too excited with the new toy!!

Audi now put 6 months tax on used approved cars for you as standard so that was a bit of a result.

Every single time a main dealer has taxed a car for me I have had to insure they had a valid insurance certificate from me before they could do so.

Every main dealer I've purchased from has some sort of '7 day free insurance' offer than they can use to tax the vehicle with.

Same experience here. 4 cars from dealers, all 4 required proof of insurance.
