Hi
looking to pick up a secondhand macbook pro. now the one i saw doesnt come with a receipt. it has got extended apple care warranty. was wondering does the warranty work in the same way as the iphone warranty where you dont need the original receipt to claim or would i need a receipt
thanks

Whenever I took my MacBook in to the Apple store they just fired up the system profiler to get the serial number, I never had to show anything else.

You can also check the warranty status of a device yourself on the apple website, if you have the serial number.

I think AppleCare is generally on the device itself, however officially it's only transferable once (either existing user buying a new product, or transferring with a product to a new owner).

It does say that they should notify apple and that the proof of purchase should be provided to the new owner.

I should add that apple, particularly the store staff, are very helpful. So, you could always pop in to, or give your nearest store a ring and ask if you are unsure
