Well I have heard many a tale about static and its evil effects on computer components so want some steering on setting up my new pc.

I have just ordered and have had arrive all new parts for a new machine.
I want to go ahead and start configuring but the biggest surface area available for building this is a carpetted floor.

I was just wondering am I right in thinking that as long as I wear my mighty anti-static wrist band and clip it to the empty case whilst im fitting parts that I should be alright?

Any advice as always is welcome.

Cheers
Nick

so whats the process for fitting a pc.

Do you fit the PSU to the case. Then with nothing else connected inside the pc, I plug the psu lead from wall to pc, and then attach the anti-static strap to the case and continue installing.

there's probably a guide somewhere on site

but it's the psu that you install first from what i've read.

so you then plug your psu into the wall (not switching the socket on) which earths your case and everything on it

Dont know if im being daft or not, but I cant seem to find any posts on how to build a machine from scratch.
Has anybody got any posts they can recommend????
