Buzzing/humming/vibrating like noise from PC

yup u gotta take that side panel off and put your ear up close.... just not too close to the fan, find out whats causing the noise :)

its the only way sadly.

Well it came back, and I can only assume it's the mechanical HDD, as surely if it was the PSU, it would just be there all the time? Although I guess if it was HDD it may be there all the time too. Damn confusing to have to think about this at midnight :p. It is intermittent though, and thats the annoying thing. If it was there all the time I could try and narrow it down, but it's not unfortunately.

I've had my head inside again but no real joy in pinpointing it. It seems to be everywhere and nowhere when I get close with the side panel off.

I also don't want to make any rash moves, as the first thing I thought just then was 'if it is the hard drive, then over the next few months I'm going to buy loads of SSD's', this I feel is a slightly rash decision :p.

Download samsung es tool and change drive acoustic to silent , worked for my old f1 that used to humm like crazey

some rubber hdd mounts might help,it could be the hdd vibrating against the metal mounting points of your case?

This may seem really naive of me, but the download seemed to work, but I'm not sure what to do with it. It just keeps saying it's not compatible with my version of windows, but I've tried to run it in compatibility mode, but nothing

Sorry buddy, you have to burn it to a cd and boot from the cd at start-up. Then just let it scan for your f1 then if you go through the list it says on one of the options silent, normal or fast.
If you are stuck will fire mine up in morning (when i get home) and jot down what to do exactly

:)

Manged to sort it this morning to boot with it, but to be honest, it confused the hell out of me and then I couldn't work out how to quit out of it :(. Had to just press the power button so I hope I haven't messed anything up in my total confusion. Think for now I'm just going to leave it as it is and just tolerate the noise, as it isn't deafening or anything. I don't want to end up breaking anything in a quest to quiet it down :(
