Buzzing Noise

Hi,

There has been this odd buzzing noise that sounds like something is hitting a fan or similar in a periodical manner.

I've opened up my case and looked for any kind of cables that may be touching a fan and did a bit of cable management for what could have been the problem. I also cleaned it and made sure it was dust free. I can mute the sound by pushing down on the case for a few minutes.

I've tried unplugging all the case fans to try and find the problem but this makes no difference.

Before I replace the fans and the CPU cooler, I thought I'd ask here as this may not even fix the problem.

Does anyone have any advice?

My specs are:

Corsair 2013 Edition Gamer Series GS 600W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
PowerColor Radeon RX 580 Red Dragon V2 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
TeamGroup Elite 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz
Asus P8Z77-V LX Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2)
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD (Put in an MX500 SSD and a few more HDDs)
Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail
NZXT Phantom 410 Enthusiast Midi Tower Case - Gun Metal

When you say youve put in a few more hard drives, spinners?

If so probably some sort of hard drive resonance.

Thank you, that makes sense as this happened when I installed a couple of new HDDs. Some of which are old and were from a laptop.

I'll go through the process of disconnecting them and see which is to blame.

In your HDD cages, can you hold/press on them and see if the buzzing goes away? I know that's gonna really strange but that's how I diagnosed one of my old ones.

To update this thread, I worked out that this problem was with the newest 2TB 3.5" HDD.

I took it out and realised that only 3 of the 4 screws were holding it in to the caddy. I've fixed this and it seems back to its quiet self. It's early days though so will update this thread if the problem comes back.

Thank you.

[EDIT] Just to update the thread, the issue seems fine now.
