Have researched this and seems a problem that occurs fairly frequently but can't find a solution.

E.g. - if I scroll IE or firefox (or a document in word) up and down I get a buzzing sound whenever the window is moving. Stops when window stops!

Like some interference on the audio by the graphics signal.

Also happens when a piece of software (e.g. photoshop) which takes a few seconds, loads - i.e when processor is working harder.

Using built in realtek sound on Gigabyte Core i7 system.

Graphics is ATI Radeon 4800 series.

Any ideas - searched the web and no real solutions. No interfrence UNLESS I move mouse (PS/2 or USB).

Could be a ground loop or the sound circuit is picking up EMI from the graphics card (as you mentioned). If it's EMI then the only real solution is to get an external sound card or try pot luck with a replacement graphics card. There's not really much else you can do as you can't move the onboard audio.

It's emi at work afaik , most onboard audio solutions are not protected or not protected well , usually only the highest quality of motherboards go to this much trouble . Even low end audio cards can have this problem . Usually an external solution solves this but can be solved by different configurations . Had this on my previous build . Tbf never affected anything just became rather annoying

usb controller is creating noise i expect.

are you using front panel my work pc front panel does this

I used to get that in different degrees, including when using an STX card. When benching my graphics card using 3DMark I would also get some minor though audible background noise being picked up inside the case. Although it never annoyed me enough to do anything about it, since using an optical connection to an external DAC incl. passive volume control any background noise has been totally eliminated.
