I have had this annoying buzzing sound that has affected my computer for a long time, probably even a few years. I have been trying to identify what it is. The sound comes out through my speakers and only happens very rarely. I am going to try and record it. I think it is a hard drive related or ssd related but it could be psu related. I have a esi maya 44 but i did test it with the onboard and i also had the problem. I use the optical audio port on the esi maya and the onboard. going in to a Yamaha RX-V465. The sound usually occurs when I play games or watch videos. Recently it has seemed like it is becoming more frequent. I moved my pc in to a new case and changed the cpu paste and moved the soundcard to a new port and it still has the problem.

Core 2 Duo E8200, 2666 MHz (8 x 333) oc 3200mhz 8x400
Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS5 1600mhz fsb
Corsair Dominator 8500 2x2gb 1066mhz
ati 3850
Corsair 550w psu

esi maya44 pci

You could gave a wine on your psu easy way to find out is trying a different One or you could disconnect your hdd and leave you ssd attached and see if it goes i know the older hdds used to have a wine when idling or spinning up

Yes if i had a different psu I would test that of course. I have been thinking of testing without all the hds for a while. Could it also be the graphics card or do you think that would be unlikely? I find it strange that it seems to happen most of the time when I play games as a lot of activity comes on to screen. Usually just as i am about to shoot someone for the first time of that game it has a big glitch which also effects the graphics performance for a few seconds, not just an audio glitch, the whole pc and the mouse stops responding for a few seconds while it makes this buzzing sound out of the speakers. I will test without all the hds next.

Definitely not mobile phone interference sound, i know that sound. This is more intense and sharp on the ear.

I have an esi maya 44 which goes in to yamaha 467 with optical audio then i plug my headphones in the AVR. I have tried the onboard optical audio port but i had the same problem.

It does occur through the speakers as well, which are wharfdale diamond 9. It may be the esi maya 44 causing the problem as i have not tested without that in, even though i tested the onboard.

For some reason I think it is the ssd, was wondering if anyone else had this problem with ssd?
