Buzzing that seems to be related to my GPU.

I have over the past few months been putting a new rig based on spec below:

Intel Core i7 920
Corsair H50-1
6GB PC-12800 Corsair C7
Gigabyte EX58-UD5
Crucial C300 256 Gb
Highpoint Rocket 620 Sata III Controller
Zotac GTX 280 1024 MB
Asus Xonar DX
Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 550W
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit

After I put Windows 7 on it yesteraday followed by crysis I noticed that I was getting noises coming from the PSU when doing assesment for the Windows Experience Index and also playing Crysis itself.

However when I replaced my Gtx280 with a spare 8400 GS the noise stopped with both the psu listed above and a spare 620w I have.

Does the above just point to me needing a better PSU? If so would a 650w be enough?

Just had a go with the calculator suggested by Biffa and came out with 548w. So I guess that I am getting the buzzing due the psu having to work at near full capacity.

Heh the coolermaster one is licenced from the one I linked to :p It even says so at the bottom of the page.

Anyway if you add it all up on the Coolermaster one it comes to 498W for it overclocked to 3.6Ghz @ 1.4V which is a fairly average overclock for an i7. And we still don't know he full spec of his machine.

How many fans do you have? 6
Any SATA drives as well as your SSD? 2
Any USB devices plugged in? 2
Number and type of optical drives? 1 DVD RW

Only he knows excatly his spec and can plug all the info in we are just all guessing.
Plus a PCI-E Sound card and a Sata III controller card.

During game menus, in the game and during the Windows Experience Assessment. Also at one point I got a different noise when I plugged a 4 gb flash drive in while the pc was sitting at the desktop.

Nor had I until I built this one. Given that the card is ok in my other machine that is based on a Q9450 with a 650w psu, I am beginning think it is just the psu being too close to the limit.

The whine is such that it would drive me potty if I leave it as it is.
