Bye bye Ps3 Hello 360 (3rd time lucky)

Not sure about HDMI being 'miles better' really.

I use VGA for the 360 and HDMI for the PS3. Not really any discernable difference in pq.

VGA has improved a lot since the spring update.

I know.

Prior to this update, I'd definately have given HDMI the thumbs up over VGA. Since, though, there's really not too much in it.

Main bonus of HDMI for me would be that then everything could go through my HDMI switch box.

I now put VGA above HDMI as I get no overscan via VGA as it's designed for PC use :)

If you expect AAA titles to come out within the first year, then you are kidding yourself.

You will regret selling your PS3 when the good games start rolling out. I really don't get why people buy a console then complain about the lack of games, did you do any research at which games are coming out?

We just assumed Sony would be able to compete with MS from the word go. Obviously not the case. Saying 'wait till after the first year' isn't much of a defense for a console now. It's that kind of thinking that's not helping Sony 'third place (on the charts)'.

They don't have to be 'AAA'.

Better than average would suffice.

And I really don't think you need to attack someone like that just because they've exchanged a console you clearly love so dear. He bought it, it wasn't all it was cracked up to be, so he sold it on. Thinking of doing the same tbh, though for a Wii.

Don't think he complained, he just went ahead and done the trade, no fuss really :) I think a lot of PS3 owners are feeling the same, lets be honest lots of people buy it because it's new, and once that novelty wears off you realise you miss your games, and look at the 360 and see the line up and realise your mistake :-)

Why will he regret selling it?

You act like no good games will roll out on the XBox360, only PS3.

I think we can agree that from a hardware point of view the PS3 is next-gen compared with the curent 360's. Obviously at this point in time the software isn't but I think by this time next year it will be :)

When i got my PS3 I saw there was a huge gap for about 6 months without many big games out. This was pretty common knowlegde, but i think we all hoped that some may of been pushed foreward rather than quite a lot dropping back. The UK store is lacking but i use the US one so dont have the same problem as some, but looking at June its going to be getting quite full in there, with some fun games like super stardust HD coming out. I think Wii owners are in pretty much the same boat at the moment, we got a years worth of games to make up on the 360 and thats going to take time. I would only get rid of my PS3 if i was not going to get one again at a later date. Seems like false economy to me as i dont think we'll see it under 300 for well over a year at least, and thats about the current trade in value. Nothing wrong with the 360 its an excellent console with some excellent games but for me its never going to be an option, many of the "exclusive" games I want to play will be on PC . Wii is great fun as a "party" console but after being at work for 10 hours i dont think i could always be bothered to play it as intented.

Sony had it made with the Ps2 with the amount of Exclusive titles they had but most 3rd party game makers have gone multi platform now.

There was 2 or 3 games in house sony games i wanted but there are many more MS games i want :)

Im prety sure i wont regret getting rid of it :)

Personally I feel the same way, but I just preordered Haze and GTA IV so I don't mind watching Blu Ray Movies until then :)

I just hope you don't regret it mate.

The ps3 is a great machine with excellent av features and blu-ray, but i agree with most people on here, if its games you're after, it has to be 360 every time.

Er, no? Are you a slavering fanboy or something? The PS3's hardware isn't any superior to the 360's at all. Do you even know what else there is in the console with the exception of the much overexaggerated-performing Cell? I am still awaiting an explanation from the hordes of Sony 'experts' on how the processer will make up for the 7800's deficiencies instead of being bottlenecked by it. Because I sure as hell has never seen any Core 2 Duos making up for deficiencies on older graphics cards like the PC equivelant of the 7800 series. Anyone who thinks Cell is any different, so much that as you put it, is next gen compared to the 360's processer, is deluded and ignorant.

Have fun. Much disappointment lays ahead for you mate. ;) When I get PS3 games I will expect just as good as what I see on 360, but no better than that.

Obviously people will think this is a trolling attempt, but it's just the plain facts, educating somebody who is blatantly left out of the loop. You could say Edz probably won't be so annoyed anymore when he's realized he's not getting his 4d fix at all.

well for ps3 games looking better than 360 game, no I don't think so either. But different, yes. Cell is better placed than a core duo as you put it to help the rsx and it's deficiencies, vertex calculations and culling operation perform well on the spu's along with geometry operations amoung others. To say 360 is better because of xenos is a flawed argument as 360 is lacking itself in many areas, xenon while more general purpose and easier to program for has less ability to be flexibke due to the shared l2 cache, each spu has its own cache as does the ppu, and each can access the xdr independently of each other. 360's unified memory pool has made development easier again but the gddr 3 system/graphic memory pool is rated 700mhz next to 256 of 3.2ghz rated xdr main memory and 650 mhz gddr3 rsx memory. The xdr will enable more complicated physics/animation routines to be performed by cell ( example uncharted, might not look better than 360 games but animation & physics wise I haven't seen a 360 game like it )

So to finish their is a counter argument to any point, both consoles have strengths and weaknesses and to exploit one on ps3 is to ignore another on 360. No console is perfect and I look forward to getting my elite ( which will be the fourth 360 I will have owned ) to go along side my ps3 and enjoying all they have to offer.
