Today I sold the Rangie. I have mixed feelings about it. In one sense I'm happy as the mrs will now get a car she will actually drive. On the other hand I'm sad as I liked it a lot.

Unfortunately, after we bought it, the mrs decided that she hated automatics and refused to drive it. No reason was given and my questioning just resulted in "I can't drive it. I want a manual". So, it had to go.

We have bought...... wait for it........a 2008 Honda CR-V 2.0 EX.

Well, it's got nav and leather. It'll be reliable too I'm sure.
Most will say that we should have bought the diesel version but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Oh well, I'll try to enjoy my generic mid-sized SUV.
Being a dad requires many sacrifices.

Don't get why no diesel engine. It's a CRV for goodness sake, not a Ferrari.

If you have to drive around in a honda CRV then you might as we'll save some money. Guessing the petrol variant is n/a.

Yeah, n/a.
To be honest, the diesel isn't that different on economy in the CR-V. Especially considering the car will only do 10k per year and a lot of that will be short journeys where a diesel will soot up and not get up to temperature.

at least it wasn't the S2000!

NEVER!

The only thing that will replace the S2000 is an F-Type or a 997 Turbo Cabriolet. I can afford neither.

im guessing the rangie bills started spiralling out of control and you got shot of it before it bankrupted you :D CRV pffft

It has been surprisingly cheap to run (excluding fuel and road tax). A local specialist has been doing work on it and his rates are very reasonable. Parts are pretty cheap too.

My wife has a 10 plate petrol CR-V, automatic.

It's comfortable with arm rests, but the engine is gutless and it's horrible trying to make swift progress anywhere. The Sat-Nav stereo is irritating. Even if you left the volume on '0', the next time you turn on the ignition, it will blast out at volume and then put itself back down to '0'.

When I drive it on the motorway, I now resort to pressing the button on the auto stick to knock it back into 3rd to overtake.

Hmm. I didn't find it gutless on the test drive. Adequate would be the best way to describe it. 0-60 is just over 10s.
This is of course for the manual. I've no idea what the auto is like.

Personally I think you should have back handed her and tell her to have a quiet word with herself, absolute ridiculous excuse to get rid of a car, all you have to do is leave your left leg on the rest and the right one do most of the work, as it normally does in a manual anyway.

*facepalm*

I think it's the feeling of lack of control that she couldn't get used to. She felt that the car was always running away from her and she also kept putting both feet on the brake when pulling up, resulting in an emergency stop.

I don't get it myself. I can swap from manual to auto and back without thinking about it. I guess some people just can't.

Did you lose anything on the Range Rover?

I can't say i'd be happy if my girlfriend did that to me. She'd get told to get the bus.

She came to me yesterday to say that there was a scraping sound on the Fabia when breaking. I had a look - pad has worn away completely and scored the disk to hell. Wonderful. I love it when I get warnings about these things. :/

I lost a couple of k. No bother really. At the end of the day I just want her to be happy.

Unfortunately the bus isn't really an option. We have a 3 week old baby now.
