At last, that car was rubbish and a pathetic tribute to the original. They should have kept the Firebird/Trans Am.

But it's not a 'tribute' to the original, it's a rebadged Holden. It's actually a pretty damn good car in it's own right, our version of the same car (the Vauxhall Monaro) got really good reveiws, Top Gear loved it.

It's far from 'rubbish'.

I actually like the GTO. The Monaro is a great car for the money it has to be said. Top gear did love it and made me love it and probably many others.

Good car in my view. Americans might not like it but me being on the UK side, GTO / Monaro, we like :)

So the same car made in the same Australian factory uses 'cheaper parts' for a 'cut down' version for America?

YEAH!!!

Actually....I cant remember where I read that. So I could be wrong :)

But it was meant as a revival of the original and got branded by the american public is a bad car because of its bland styling (which is slightly different to the vx) and cheaper interior. Plus, when you try to revive a legend like the GTO, a rebadged Monaro is hardly legendary. They shouldnt have replaced the Trans Am.

I agree that it they got the branding all wrong. They should have just used the Monaro name like the rest of the GM companies. My point however was that badly named or not, the car itself is far from rubbish.

I'd have one in an instant.

I wonder how much was changed - it was sold with a list price of $32,000 which is stated as being a lot in the US

$32,000 = £18,381.47. Even after VAT @ 17.5% that comes to £21598.23

The car starts at £29.895 on the road here - that's a fair amount more!
