Bykski or AlphaCool GPU Blocks

My block was shipped on the 15th Feb, with initial delivery date on the 19th. It was then put back to 25th, due to a "brexit" delay.

On the 25th, there had been no further updates on the tracking, so my hopes were not high for delivery. As fate would have it, it was updated that morning to say delivery had been delayed again and would now be on the 2nd March.

Now today, it has been delayed further to the 4th March.

The fact it sat in Germany for a week in the same place leads me to believe its to do with customs forms etc. which now have to be completed. Still, does get rather frustrating.

That's strange AlphaCool and Aqua Tuning recommended UPS to minimize issues with delivery, what have you got ordered
Alphacool Sapphire Nitro+ block, some EK fittings, an EK flow monitor and an Alphacool ST30 X-Flow red.

The Nitro+ block and ST30 X-Flow rad where only in stock there so Hobsons choice about ordering from Germany.

Next time I will order individually and take the £15 postage hit to keep it under £135 and avoid the customs debacle.

Hey bud, what fitting is that on the card? Looks fairly low profile for an adjustable fitting? I'm looking for something as low profile as possible per this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/foru...ofile-90-degree-fittings-or-similar.18920799/

it’s just a bykski stop plug on the left and an ek quantum 90 degree fitting on the right.

it’s gonna be tough looking for a low profile adjustable fitting.. are you after hard tubing or compression type? the ek one shown stands at 28mm, and others such as bitspower are around the same height.

if you can sacrifice the adjustability, you might be able to get away with these

BitsPower seems to be 26.8mm

I too had issues with shipping from the same place in Germany and via UPS. I ordered the block in January and took about a month to arrive as for some reason, the block was shipped across Germany then back to sender so that was a waste of 2 weeks..before I complained as to why they did that, they shipped it out again and reaching me another 1-2 weeks later.

Monday came and went and UPS have not updated so I guess its just a patient wait until it arrives.

On a brighter note the German company I got it from replied to my email about having to pay VAT and asked me to send in the invoice when I get it and they will repay what I paid at purchase. :)

I feel for ya. Mine is still in Germany, according to the tracking. So, it has moved backwards and forwards between 2 different places over the course of 3 weeks and not really moved anywhere. It still says it's due to be delivered on Thursday, so it could still get here "on time", but I suspect another delay is due tomorrow.

Can't say how well the bykski performs, but so far, seems like the Alphacool was much better than the Corsair and EK (if I can remember).
I was wondering if the Corsair or EK would perform better, as they use pads on more places than the Alphacool ones, but according to the test from Igor Labs, the Alphacool is a strong performer.
The only why to improve would be adding something out of the standard (installing a waterblock on the backplate), but this can be done to the Alphacool too.

Regarding the whole VAT/Import Tax and all, very unclear at the moment.
Was tempted to order few exotic bits that Overclockers and any other UK-based shop doesn't sell, but was put off by the chance of a nasty surprise. One shop from Germany won't even allow select UK to calculate delivery costs.

Doh, i should've done that but i was impatient at the time and wanted my card fitted. I ended up having to pay UPS sub £50 import duty just to release it from customs to be delivered to me. I only purchased the block and some 17wk thermal pads

Did UPS give you a receipt for the Import duty?

Got some fittings coming from EKWB and some Aquacomputer bits from the German company that are out of stock at Ocuk, both we'll under £135 limit.

Last time EKWB sent by DHL and it arrived in 3 days so we'll see if UPS can match them for orders under £70 which won't have any duty due.

@tomper76 I just googled the block and it came up as an option but I think they are out of stock until the end of March there now.

@im4gine3 my order was for £250, anything under £135 and there should be no tax, duty or admin fees.

You shouldn't have to pay Vat twice so the seller agreed to refund me the Vat if I provided proof from paying it to UPS.

I gave it a shot not keeping my hopes up especially after i ordered the items over a month ago so way past the cooling off/return period, and they accepted a refund request. i'm quite surprised.

Well, after nearly a month of waiting, with the parcel continually being delayed by "Brexit", my Alphacool 6800XT block finally showed up yesterday. First impressions are good. It looks nice, looks well designed, and comes with a backplate as standard *cough* EK *cough*. Thermal pads were all present as well as a good set of instructions.

I installed it last night and I didn't have any major issues. There was some god-awful carbon pad on the die which was a PITA to get off, as some of it had baked onto the die. To make matters worse, it flaked and went all over the card when I was trying to get it off with the propanol, so I hope I managed to get it all, and didn't damage anything in the process!
