My video card went **** up.

How do i force boot into windows? I have VNC so controlling it wont be a problem, since it autoloads everything.

I currently get beeps, and then presumably it stops.

Interesting idea here. I'm sure its possible to run computers headless, so why not without a graphics card? I get a series of beeps and no boot with it missing, while it would be more useful for it to beep then proceed to load the operating system for remote access.

I don't know of a way to skip post though I'm afraid. Graphics cards tend to throw corruption to the screen rather than die outright though, so you may be ok leaving it in place temporarily and accessing the system over a network

There is usualy an option in the BIOS called something like 'Halt On' where you can choose which error states will make it stop. I've had to alter this to get machines to boot without monitors or keyboards (you gotta love the keyboard not detected, press F1 to continue error). However I don't know what would happen without a video card, and anyway you can't get into the BIOS.

Have you tried pressing F1 as it starts?

Yea, it did have some death throws before it died, it kept on "blanking" the screen every 5 seconds. Thought it was a software/driver thing, so i rebooted. Then it wouldnt get past POST. The tv its connected to said "out of range" and there were the tell tale beeps.

Took out the card, found out that the fan/heatsink was clogged with dust, so it prolly died in the hot weather... and it was only a TI GF4800-se, so it was ancient...

Tried the F1 thing, doesnt work either. Any other ideas?
