bypassing vista home password

Is this possible? I recently purchased a 2nd hand laptop for my sister and she cannot bypass the login password to access the other features of the machine. I will not see the original owner until Wednessday, so is there any way to get around this problem in the meantime? Thanks

You bought a second hand laptop and aren't going to reformat it before you use it? :confused:

Safemode should work. Just create a new user account.

Its a 4 month old laptop from a friend so I know it's trustworthy and safe to use in this respect. Of course I cannot be 100%. Will try safemode and take it from their. Thanks Energize.
Hmm still kept asking for user password. So I'll have to wait.

You could try using the Ophcrack Live CD...

grab the download here... http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

Burn the iso file to a disc and then boot the laptop from it. The passwords should be found in no time - not sure how long but should be quicker than waiting until Wednesday
