C&C 3 - how to stop the evil scrin air stuff?

Right then! hows this done then? particually in bigger games?

Scrins stuff seems ridiculously overpowered generally and the only real counter is Nod's venoms. What happens if your GDI though? what do people do here? the only thing that is even reasonably effective that i've found so far is like..80+ pitbulls :p

I'm refering to big games here with friends. not 1v1! as obviously it plays very different and you track what opponent is doing etc.

Any help appreciated! :D
 
Scrin aren't imba - you just need to adapt your tactics somewhat.
COVER your base with AA guns, and also make LOADS of Riflemen foxhole things.
When made, take the riflemen out, and put 2 rocket troops in each.
Keep a large number of Pitbulls and APCs loaded with rocket troops nearby, and group them all together.
Use them to kill off those nasty devastator warships, which can outrange your fixed AA guns.

Firehawks do well too - lots of firehawks, with Air to Air loadouts and the stratofighter ability to bounce them to wherever they are needed
 
Not played much with the new patch, but before it I tended to use loads of rocket men. I found mammoth tanks good against them, but you had to keep targeting them directly, else they auto aim at the smaller units that fly from them.
 
my only problem is exactly as one person stated..against any semi-decent scrin they just get a load of the long range air artillery things and have tripods guarding them just in front of them so you can't get close with pitbulls. Then they start firing all that blue s*** at me and it does a lot of damage :p
 
Yeah against Scrin my tactics don't change much from the ones I use against NOD. Build lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of mammoth tanks and lay waste to anything that looks at you funny.
 
You're right, Scrin airforce is very powerful, but it's slow and expensive. If you're GDI, intelligence is key. Pitbulls detect stealth, and have AA so keep a network of them within a good perimeter of your base. They'll keep you abreast of any surprises especially that friggin mothership thing. They're also ace at making sure a commando doesn't sneak through.

Make sure some buildings are appropriated with rocket troops too as part of this early warning system.

Keep a group of 8 A2A loadout Firehawks. These will take down a mothership in 3 strikes, a Devistator Warship in 2 (inc. shield) and a Planetary Carrier in 2 strikes (3 with shield). With the pit bulls keeping you informed there should be plenty of time to take them down before they reach your base.

Nothing is as good as the venoms as you say - i hate bloody venoms!


NB:
If you're playing among friends (i'm guessing at lan parties) keep and ear out for the evil laughs of scrin players which could give you a heads up on whats coming your way ;)

PS: I do not advocate cheating of any sort :p
