C&C Generals on Vista 64

Hi,

I installed C&C generals last night as I got it for free at game. Installed fine no problems at all, but when you click the shortcut to start it all it does is hang on the splash screen and after around 20 seconds or so another windows comes up with "Technical Problem" which I presume relates to C&C.

Is there anything that could be stopping it from working, I have changed the compat mode to XP SP2 but still having no luck

To be honest generals had enough problems running on the operating system it was designed for in lan games. Running it on Vista x64 might tip it over the edge

Have you tried the latest patch? Also is that Generals, or the Zero Hour expansion.
