C&C Generals zero hour Crashes!

Hi guys

Basically C&C generals ZH keeps crashing with an error meesage that says something like "C&C Generals has encounted problems due to overheating hardware, virus' or your system doesn't meet requirements" it also tells me to go to a website but EA are no longer making patches or anything for this game so the website doesn't work.

I play CSS with no problems.

My spec is...
AMD 3200 A64, Ati Radeon x800gt, 1 gig of ram.

What could be causing this problem?! It's driving me mad :mad:
 
in all my years of gaming ive never seen a crash tell you in plain english (ie. C&C Generals has encounted problems due to overheating hardware), its always "this program has encountered an error and will close" then shows a long string of meaningless text in case you want to report it.

My advice.

1) uninstall the game.

2) run a complete virus and spyware check

3) defrag

4) reinstall and patch.

5) still having problems then check all your drivers.
 
thanks for your reply, I should have said, i have reinstalled it, avast scanned, spybot and adaware scanned, fully patched etc... just weird really, and about the error it did shut the game down.

Ill try that what you said, ill update my gfx card drivers, but it cheesed me off that it gave me a website to go to and it doesnt work :rolleyes:
 
At a guess it comes up with the "Generals has encountered a serious error, this could be down to overheating hardware, viruses etc..."

I wouldn't pay much attention to the possible reasons, its down to the shoddy coding. Generals is a really buggy game.
 
well, generals for me is fine tbh, netcode could be better, as u reguarly end up playing with someone laggy, but most of the times it **** be ok.

i cudnt get zero hour to work online aswell i think in my old pc, that was ages ago tho....

I must say I don't play online but this is enough to put me off playing online.
