i've tried downloading eclipse direct link here

and made a project and tried building a simple hello world program.

when i build (command+B) i get a message in the console:

(Exec error:Cannot run make)

then if i do a run (shift+command+F11) i get this in a pop up window.

"Launch failed no binaries".

anyone know what is going wrong, i'm a newbie when it comes to mac's and c++ IDE's outisde of bloodshed dev c++.

i also didn't know where to put this either here or in the HTML/programming forum. apologies if it's in the wrong place.

You need to install the Xcode tools from your Mac Install DVD. You don't have to use the Xcode IDE but if you don't you wont have the GCC compiler installed.

as far as i can remember i remember selecting Xcode tools when installed os x (i upgraded hard drive so i had to reinstall).

i'll install it again and see.

thanks
