Hi all,

C&C Tiberium Wars is one of my fave games, the Rome level in particular with the huge Nod army in the upper left corner.

My problem is, that when on the highest settings, I find this level stutters when you attack Nod directly.

What sort of components would I need to aim for if I want this game to run smoothly and quickly on the highest settings? And is this sort of game with multiple enemies en mass teh sort of thing a quad core can help with?

My current system below is at an inbetween stage, being used as a building block for the basics before a new motherboard, CPU and GPU later.
At the moment I am using the below kit, with resolution at 1680+1050 with all the game settings and the cards settings on high. What would be the biggest cause of the stuttering /pausing I am seeing?

Cheers,
Steve

Hyper 540w modular PSU
Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 Rev2 motherboard
Intel E5200
Corsair XMS Pro DDR400 (PC-3500) 2x1Gb
Samsung Spinpoint 640Gb Sata II HD
HIS IceQ 3850 512mb AGP graphics card
Samsung 2032 monitor.

I think i'd upgrade the memory to 4gb ddr2 first, cheapest option anyway, the cpu should be fine and i suspect the gfx card should be too

I found that Command & Conquer 3 game files can balloon to over 1GB (well especially in LAN games with lots of AI).

I've just retired my old Athlon 64 4000 system with Corsair 2GB of DDR400 RAM and it had to use the Windows pagefile quite a bit (which may explain the pausing and stuttering)...I would second what rxmac said about memory

I also run it on an AsRock 4Core DualVSTA with 2GB DDR2 800MHz (LAN gaming) and it seems to play fine on that at the same resolution as yours...
