C&C3 & Vista Issue

I have just installed C&C3 onto my MS Vista Hdd. But every time I try to play the game I have an error message "Please use the original disk instead of a backup code 1000". I then downloaded the latest updates, and I still get the error message. I have even gone into the settings and changed the compatability mode to XP+SP2.

Is this a common issue with Vista at all :confused:

I myself have had a flawless experience with C&C3 and Vista, might want to see if you have any "virtual drive" software etc mabye ??

Just a guess though, google the error code and see what happens?

Dont they say Vista 64bit and CnC3 is a no show?

No problems with running C&C3 on Vista here, and i've got daemon tools running at the same time.

try googling the error code as has been suggested. If that is fruitless, uninstall and then install again.

Vista 64 and CnC3 working fine here, no issues.

Is it a legal copy?

Vista64 Ultimate and C&C3 player and it all works absolutely fine.
Are we missing the obvious here - you are using the original C&C3 disc as supplied in the box aren't you?

I cant get into skirmish on vista32 freezes on the loading screen.

Google refers to the secure rom copy protection on the disk, some people have had the same issues that you are having and have gotten around it by using a different cd/dvd drive.

If you dont have another drive you can try it in i would take it back and swap it for a new one and see what happens.

I have manged to get past the error message stage. But all I get now is the EA logo, and the Tiberium coming up and around the logo, then I get a black screen and nothing else :confused:

maybe download the new dx update for vista off the ms site it adds heaps of files to dx i had to do that theres a version been relised in feb 2007 grab it

I have un-installed all the patches and the game seems to be working fine. Bit weird as patches are they to help with any issues, with the game :rolleyes:

its maybe an issues with it using dx10 and dx 9 as the dx that came with vista is a lot older. but if its working then good stuff

This is a major problem with some games, however you can install dx several times. Dx10 is pre installed, some people will need to download dx9 and install that as well. Then you have full dx9 and dx10 computability. Not sure why, as dx10 should be backwards compatible, probably something specific with c&c3
