I want to do a c# course with exam preferably. Im based in Essex, can anyone recommend a company that does this sort of thing? I'd rather not do a learning from home thing.

developer with 20+ years exp mainly vb6 and VB.Net though, sql2000 / 2008, very little web

After coming out of a 14 month contract in Dec it looks like im on the scrap heap skills wise so i better train myself up a bit! or get the tomtom out and go pizza delivering :)

Just learn the basics of C# syntax, read a 5-minute overview of VB.Net -> C# differences, learn a few Web-type acronyms/phrases (Web 2.0, Ajax, RESTful, MVC) and bull-**** your way through the interview.

I believe that's the normal way to go about this sort of thing.

yeah but to be honest im just bone idle. I cant be arsed spending a few hours a day reading a book, if i do a course i know i'll concentrate on it properly :) But yeah the book route and BS at interview route is the usual.

Not sure if this will work but its worth a shot. Have you tried asking your previous employer about qualifications they recognise? If you got on well with them they might be able to help and tell you. after they tell you check with your local further education colleges/unis and see if they offer any of the courses.

If you cant get any info from your old boss, try asking some college/uni advisors or an IT Based recruitment company, they're normally happy to help and will do it free of charge.

Good luck :)
