Can anyone tell me a few things about this car if you have it/know about it..

What car is the c-max based on? and how wide are the back seats?

Also what are the servicing costs like?

the c max is the new galaxy? or the one in between the galaxy and the focus?

i've been in the middle one, and that's fairly roomy int he back, and in the boot (not been in the front, it's a friend's parent's car)

c max is like a focus but a bit taller with a bit more room, for people who think the mondeo is too big i guess

servicing will be as cheap as the focus, any garage will service a focus/c-max so dont worry about that

C-Max was Fords first car based on the then-new (Now current) Focus platform. Servicing is reasonable, best engine is the 2.0 TDCi 130 and to be honest it's pretty quick for a diesel people carrier.

in which case it was the c max that i was talking about, and it seemed nice enough on the few occasions i've been in it =]

no alloy wheels as standard though apparently =0

Not bothered about alloys or that anyway...

So is the mondeo the same or wider with regards to the rear seat spaces?

As a big focus its pretty good - and its actually cheaper for a c-max than a current model focus that runs on the same plaform. But its back seats don't fold flat - so for all out load carrying a mondeo estate is better, and as a people carrier the s-max and galaxy's are better. But if you only need a little extra space over a focus then the cmax certainly fits the bill.

C-Max is a reasonably good car. It was facelifted this summer. I have driven both.

In fact, I drove a 6 mile old 57 plate 2.0 Petrol Auto on the 1st September and it made a fairly bad journey reasonably relaxing. It was even quite good at doing hand brake turns in a field :D

Seriously though, my general opinion is that they are good cars - the facelift is good looking, the older one is nice but a little plain. They're comfortable, handle reasonably well and have a good solid interior.

Main downside is that they are surprisingly sparsely specified. Necessities such as cruise control, auto lights/wipers, climate control instead of aircon are only available on the very top model if that (Though i'm aware my definition of a necessity is not standard :))

Does it actually offer anything over a focus though ? - Genuine question... as most of these "people carriers" are just slightly taller and disproportionately more expensive

An interesting question because the old model Scenic was based on a Megane car and while it doesn't seat more people it does so a bit more comfortably because of the seating position, but it turns into a van with the pull of a few levers. Surprised to hear the seats in the C-Max don't

They're entirely for people who want to put spogs in the car seats without bumping their heads.

I have a c-max and its great. It's actually slightly shorter than the standard focus, but because of the rest of its shape you get far more boot space and general space. We have little un and it makes putting him in very easy.

The 2l turbo diesel is a great engine, it drives very much like a focus as it has the same running gear.

Personally I would never choose the focus over the c-max as the c-max is just more flexible whilst still having the focus's good points.

I would recommend you get the zetec or ghia as the lx has pretty much no extra's.
