I've been working on OC'ing my 5820K recently and so far i've only used constant voltage (1.3v FYI) whilst EIST is working and all cores declock when idle but C-States is not working and the vcore stays at 1.3 at all times.

My Asus mobo has an EPU mode that is disabled by default but after doing some googling it's apparently not very reliable and best avoided.

I know there is Offset and Adaptive modes instead of constant vcore but I dont really know how to use either of them. If anyone has any advice i'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Don't think the Vcore drops down while using constant voltage, that's where offset or adaptive mode comes in to play, I tried messing around with them before but gave up.

^ This.
You're Vcore won't drop whilst you have manual volts enabled. For this you need either adaptive or offset. Find you're VID the voltage your CPU wants and work in steps from there. If the CPU wants more voltage than the VID i use adaptive, if it's less volts than the VID i use a negative offset. FYI i'm no pro-overclocker but this system seems best to me.
