Is there anyone with a C1 9550 (or has experience with one) that has overclocked it? Can you tell me what sort of OC you got and what temps you got. Do the C1 chips have a bad rap for generating heat when OC'd?

Would 3.8 be a realistic target on air?

They are a bit warmer than the E0 and use a bit more power but its not that horrendously worse. Overclocking potential depends a lot on the board, 3.6-3.8gig should be possible on P35, nForce, etc. chipsets but on a P45 board with the right cooling you should hit 4gig.

My vote would be a gigabyte P45 UD3 board. Tho if you don't have either board or CPU yet it might be worth considering putting the money towards an i5 or i7 setup.

I had a C1 @ 4.0GHz on an Asus P5Q Deluxe, and under Prime it did run kind of hot...generally hit around 80C @ full load under Prime, was using a Thermalright Ultra Ext (120) cooler with push/pull setup...

Have an E0 now, and it runs much cooler, hits 60C under full load using Prime with Tuniq Tower 120...
