Guys,

Got my new setup this morning and so far have been unable to get both memory modules working together.

When both sticks of Corsair XMS 800MHz DDR2 are installed I get C1 error. So far I can get one stick to boot up and this works in every dimm slot.

The other module won't boot at all and keeps getting the C1 error no matter what.

Now the other module I think may be faulty but there has been quite a lot of issues with this error from what I can read.

Anyone experienced this error?

Specs:

MB - XFX 780i
CPU - Intel Q8200
PSU - Hiper 880w
GFX - Zotac GX260
Ram - Corsair 4GB XMS6400 CL5

Thanks in advance

First go back into the bios and check that the memory voltage is set correctly, most motherboards boot at 1.8 and some memory needs more :)

If thats not the issue
Then run memtest on each stick for a few hours to determine if one is bad

C1 means there is a system ram problem. This can result from many causes which is why it is a relatively common error code.

In your case it sounds like one of the sticks is dead.

If i read your OP correctly, you've tested one of the sticks and it boots, you've used this stick in each slot and it boots, yet the moment the other ram module goes anywhere near the board it fails to post? = RMA time for the ram.
