I've currently got the C2D 6600 CPU, will I notice much improvement with games, and photo editing if I was to upgrade to the new Wolfdale E8400?

I know I won't really be making the most of the improved FSB until I upgrade my memory, but will the extra cache and mhz make a difference?

LOL confused you with willhub at first who created this thread, which you should find helpful.

*EDIT* just realised you meant E6600, doh! Do you overclock? The new E8*** gives about 5-10% performance gain clock for clock from E6***. But the real potential lies in its monstrous overclocking potential so if you don't overclock it might not be worth the upgrade.

If you want to start trying overclocking then I'd start with overclocking your E6600 first. Who knows you might be lucky and hit 3.6Ghz in which case there is no need to upgrade.
