C2D £700 spec

Evening all,

I've decided my current rig cannot cope with much anymore so I have decided to turn to the darkside which despite being an AMD fan all my life in reality they just cannot keep up with the c2d....

I don't really play games so graphics are not that important its more multimedia/music orientated but it would be nice to play the new C&C or HL2 etc

Current rig is a barton xp2500 @ 2100mhz, 1gb ram (mix 'n' match sticks could not hit 3200xp), abit nf7-s, ti4600 agp (

), 2x 120gb IDE , 2x IDE DVD/rw drives

I'm keeping my new dell 22" monitor, keyboard/speakers/mouse, 2x ide dvd drives and case +fans

I'm looking at the following; (aiming for 3GHz)

Any input would be greatly appreciated although bang for buck I think thats the best I can do for £700/750?

Think its all good but i'd changed the PSU for something a little better.

Could make up the £5 by changing for a cheaper just as good set of DDR2.

Great setup that, very nice selections although I would change the motherboard from the DS3 to the DS3P, the DS3P is a revision on the DS3 ironing out the problems and also offering better features such as Quad core support amongst other things - whats more its around the same price

I'm torn between;

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 PK PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400) £116 (This Week Only)
or
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK) - £119

and i've swapped the PSU for the suggested

I would have left the PSU, I have that one and its ace. Very strong. Very quiet too. No need to change it imo. I would go for the OCZ over the G.Skill

Both the Antec and Corsair are top PSU's but the Corsair has the bonus of Modular cable connectors which will make life much easier when tidying those cables. Also it looks cooler

I have that G.Skill, got my E6300 upto 3.15Ghz ok.
