recently got e6600 with 2 gig of giel ram and p5b delux mobo with radeon x1800xtx . it is all inatalled and boots up fine however the game that i play (css) isnt supported by the dual core. i need to run it in one core and have tried a few different mehtods of doing this but none have so far worked.

when i open the game it runs but if i can get onto a server it is very very jumpy or just crashes before i can join a game.

i have got the latest gfx drivers as well. thanks for anyhelp

I heard from somewhere that Steam would be updating their games to take advantage of dual/quad core processors sometime early in 2007.

Whether this is true or even possible I do not know, but it would be a nice way to cure the problem.

Not sure if this'll help but to quote from another forum (a similar question but about UT):

load UT
bring up task manager and find UT in the processes tab
right click and go into 'set affinity'
there you will see the 2 cores running and just uncheck one.

the set cpu speed didn't work for me with my amd dual processor either - it was ok at first but gradually got unplayable - like really bad lag

disabling 1 core on set affinity works like a charm

Assigning one core to CSS will no nothing to boost performance, as it will only be running on one core anyway, with your background apps (firewall, xfire, whatever) running on the other.

Sounds like another issue to me, probably either graphics settings, firewall or router.
