Hey guys

Looking to build a new C2D rig.

Basically I want it to be upgradable for the future, and fairly cheap (i.e sub £350)

I think to start off with I would be needing a low end-ish C2D CPU, about 1gb ram (which could overclock the processor pretty well), a good spec motherboard to allow good overclocks while at the same time having an on board graphics chip. The onboard graphics are to get me by in the meantime but it MUST have a PCI express slot. If it would be cheaper and better to get a Mobo with no onboard graphics and say a mega cheap graphics card then so be it.

Reason for me skimping on the graphics card is because I'm just about to get my own house so I'm leaving the current rig at my parents house for them to use. So really I'm just getting up and running then I will upgrade in a few months time.

So to recap

Budget - as cheap as possible circa no more than £350

I need a CPU (C2D, 1.8ghz+) , Motherboard (possibly on board graphics, must have good future expandability), Memory (1gb+), Hard drive (80gb+), and possibly a cheap graphics card (dependent on the motherboard not having an onboard graphics solution)

Thanks for any input :)

Half decent graphics card until you want to upgrade too for the money. The motherboards with onboard stuff don't tend to be that good. :) You could cut the graphics down to an 8500 GT and then improve the memory brand. 80GB hard drives are only around £20ish +VAT so if you need one of those then lower the graphics again if you want to stay around 350.
