I recently dl cpuz, to check some settings and its showing my cpu at 1600mhz to 2400mhz x6 multi to x9 multi, its doing it all the time, is this normal or is there a setting like the AMd's cool n quiet which its mucking about with my speeds?

i can't seem to turn speedstep off either, however it doesnt really bother me. As soon as i start a game/application it shoots up to what it should be anyway.

Same here I haven't found speedstep interfere with my performance. Under idle it steps back and under load it goes to the full overclock (ie. E6600 running at 3150)

If your CPU will run 3150 without any voltage adjustment, then you can run it with Speedstep enabled, but once you need higher volts to run the overclock, speedstep will drop the voltage back too much and the machine will crash while idling.

If you run Folding@Home you'll always be maxed out so you'll never see that pesky 6x multiplier again ;)
