time to upgrade as im still using a 4-5 year old athlon xp2500m abit nf7 ;)

RAM

iv picked up an e6300 which i have been told will do 3.2GHz at stock volts
and a ds3 rev 1

from what iv read the 7x multiplier means i need ram which will do at least 900 MHz to get 3.15

I want 2GB and am currently considering the crucial ballistix kit

GFX

got a dell 2407
I DONT GAME AT ALL
just want a card that will play HD films and TV and be ok for internet etc

is there any draw back in going for a cheap a$$ gfx card like a second hand x300 for a tenner

other card i was considering is an x800 aiw at 30odd quid

definitely wont be spending too much on the card

PSU

got an antec 350W sat here and a jeantech 350 but doubt theyll be up to it
please let me know if they will 1 hard drive 1 dvdrw

if i need a new one
uk rma would be beneficial dont want to have to send it to abroad at a cost of £20+ like antec used to if it blows
modular to cut down on wires would be beneficial

any suggestions on the parts

TIA

get a corsair PSU (620w to be safe, it's only a bit more than the 520w and will run everything you chuck at it). And an 8800gtx (ultra isn't worth it), for your dell.

Someone else will advise you about the RAM :)

as i dont game definitely wont be spending 2-300 on a gfx card ;)

is there any draw back in getting a cheap a$$ £10 ati x300 secondhand as the pc is only used for films TV and internet

Screen size and you planning on watching HD quality stuff? Id say spending a little more on the x800 would be benificial =]

thx for reply...

in what way beneficial.. films run fine on my geforce 4 at present

HD clips are taxing on this pc but thats not surprising as its the best part of 5 years old

what is the advantage to a non gamer of shelling out more cash on the gfx card???
