I currently have my e6600 clocked to 3ghz quite happily with the mem at about 833mhz, using a multiplier of 9 and the fsb upped to 333mhz.

However, i see many people use a lower multiplier and higher FSB.

The question i have is, whats the difference between, say, 9x333 and 8x375? or do both give effectively the same result ?

Many thanks.

they give the same result, but sometimes lowering the multi can give u a stable system.
9x320 =2997 << pc can reach this no prob, but maybe not stable
8x375 =3000 << pc is stable, so u go with this multi

hope this helps
