C2D Spec

I have no idea when it come to the new C2D and a friend wants to buy a PC more powerful than mine but on the cheap ! lol

i have....

AMD x2 3800
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
2Gb Corsair Twinx cas2
7800GTX

would this be about the same speed

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300
Gigabyte GA_945PL_S3
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4

and then just the same GFX card or a 8800GTS to blow mine away ?

Neither are or will be overclocked

To not overclock the E6300 would be a terrible shame. At stock the two are similar in performance I'd say. However, it would take about three minutes in the BIOS to throw a mild overclock on the C2D. 2.8 GHz is easy as pie. Mid to high 3 Ghz is available if he'd like to get more hardcore. Such an increase in speed would have it manhandling your rig in no time.

If not ocing just get a corsair or geil value PC5400. You can go asrock on mobo if he really wants it cheap. GFX either Sapphire 1950pro or OCUK 7900GS that offer best value. I'd go 1950pro
