Hi guys,
quick q - a mate of mine has just bought a c2d rig but is unsure which way round the stock HSF goes - as I haven't jumped ship from 939 yet I don't have a clue. He say the HSF is symetrical apart from cut-outs on two of the sides - which way round should it be seated or does it not matter?

Any advice much appreciated
Thanks in advance :)

I dont think it matters but i always have it so the Intel label on it is the right way up when the case is stood up

thanks guys - if i'm reading this right that would suggest they are multi-directional. If anyone disagrees let me know. :)

Built my friends PC a few weks ago, e6420 and ref HSF, felt i was going to snap his motherboard getting the dam clips to go in. Knew i should have made him buy a artic 7 HSF like mine

Is it me or does anybody else find those four clips very cheap and fiddly on the Intel HSF

They certainly don't give you a very clear indication of if they have properly engaged - I would not be a bit surprised the whole thing has been found lying in the bottom of cases after a PC has been moved. For a stock HSF they do the job well, just don't inspire a lot of confidence.
