Hi,

I have just setup my new C2D (e6600) system. I want to overclock it, but I just cant decide on which cpu cooler to invest in. I dont care about noise as much as I do about low core temps.

I await your advises gentlemen.

Ok one of the best coolers is the Noctua NH-U12F Heatsink

If thats a little to much the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B Heatpipe CPU Cooler is very good:

An alternative is the Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler:

If your after hig clocks and keeping your CPU temp as low as possible get the Noctua. Its just weather your willing to spend that much?

I'd second the Noctua suggestion from stick.

I think the Tuniq Tower and Thermalright ultra 120 outperform the Noctua slightly for overclocks. However the difference is so small that when you take into account the noise from the Noctua (which is crazy quiet IMO) I honestly would still go with the Noctua. However, if all you really care about is the overclock, have a look at this:

Noctua owner here. Doing a good job keeping my E4300 cool with a 60% overclock. Excellent idle temps and around 55C after 8hrs of Orthos.

I only looked at the Noctua and the Scythe Ninja when I was choosing, I remember choosing the Noctua as I'd read something about the Rev. B Scythes having certain issuses... can't remember exactly what it was though.

...and yes the Noctua is practically inaudible !

The Scythe Rev Bs have the push pins which is a shame, and also have a bit of an issue with the capacitors around the socket on DS3 mobos.

Other than that i find it is pretty good.

Arctic Freezer 7 pro is amazing for the price... im using one and got my E6300 from 1.86 right up to 3.22ghz, and it sits at around 39-40c idle, and 50~c full load.

With the fan on max its not even that loud, and keeps the system nice and cool.

Definitely reccomend

You want the best? Then get the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme with a decent 120mm fan.
This is, right now, the best air (pure air cooling, not including TEC, etc.) cooling available on the market, if you google it there should be a review by anandtech near the top and they agree that it's a great cooler.

Although it's around the same price as 3 Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro's :p
