I have blueyonder 4MB which connects to a Linksys wireless router and my laptop. I also have (for work purposes) ADSL in my bedroom so I can connect to to the office. The problem is the ADSL is 1MB with a 10GB limit. If I was to get a wireless usb adaptor and link it to the wireless router for downloading and disconnect the adsl router would it work. I would then be able to switch between both depending on whether I was downloading or connecting to the office.

Cheers

you mean have the adsl for you connecting to work? and blueyonder for downloading big stuff?
should be able to do that np. i assume the adsl is just a usb modem?
should work like this -

PC

USB wireless adapter (connected all the time although you'd have to disconnect from the network when using the ADSL i think)
ADSL USB Modem (only connected when you need the office)

i think thats what you were on about? how come you cant use the cable to connect to the work?

Thanks for the reply.

That's pretty much what I mean't except I have a adsl modem router not modem. I guess whichever one I want to use, I just disconnect the other. I don't connect to the office through the blueyonder because I need a static ip address which blueyonder don't do.

Cheers

ok so the desktop pc is totally wireless currently? if so all you have to do is select either of the networks then connect to the correct one (i.e. adsl for work, Blueyonder for play).
or is your adsl router only cabled? in which case just disable the connection you arent using while using the other.

Cheers for the help. I was pretty sure that would be the case but nothing wrong with double-checking with some helpful person as yourself.

Cheers again matey :)

Appropriate routing settings and you could drop the office traffic down the appropriate connection, and everything else down the other - without having to disconnect them.

No need to worry really. If your connecting to work you'll probably be doing it via VPN. Most VPN clients disable all other network connections for security reasons so you only ever use one or t'other.
