I've posted here as its the more relevant area of the forum.

Doing some searches i came across the "Cable braiding tutorial" massive help.

but it dosnt cover some of what i require to do..

I'm extending my fan cables, as i change of plan means they need to be longer, but extending and sleeving them myself works out a lot cheaper..

The questions i have:

What type/gauge wire would i need to use to extend them?

According to the guide 3mm/4mm/5mm braid is required. Give im going to put all 3 cables into one sleeve, can i get away with 6mm sleeving? As OC only sells 3mm or 6mm..

There was another question but its gone.. ill edit it if i remember..

I'll appreciate any advice give on this, as its the first time i've done it..

Cheers.

A couple of months ago I made a load of 2.5m (yes metre :D) braided fan extensions. I believe the normal cable to use is 16g but I used 18g silicon cables from here. Lovely flexible stuff it is too. I used 3mm black braid and got it along with the plugs and pins on ebay as it was massively cheaper from there than everywhere else plus there is a far better selection. I invested in a proper set of crimps as well. 3mm braid is more than enough for all three wires to go through.

Much appreciated.

I'm going to use to original plugs on the cables, and cut the cable somewhere near the plug and put two joints in them.
Been watching video's on the tube to see how its done..

I'll drop an order in now for some 3mm braid for them so i can get cracking with them on Tuesday..
