I've got an old dell 2209WA (1680x1050) with a single DVI and VGA port hooked up to an old desktop using a gtx460 with two DVI out - so at the moment using one dvi cable to connect them together.
I would also like to connect a laptop (native 1920x1080 display) which has vga out and hdmi out to the same display.
Bearing in mind I intend to use both machines to play games on the same monitor and concerned about image quality:
1) Use a vga cable between the laptop and the monitor.
2) Stick a dvi splitter on the monitor, one dvi cable to the desktop, and the second to the laptop with either a dvi/vga or dvi/hdmi adapter on the end.
3) Any other better solution?
