Cable Management Question

Ive just changed cases from an Antec P180b to an Antec 900 and ive found the cables quite hard to manage in this case.
I pulled the braiding back on the 8 pin power cable and ran it underneath the mobo, I was wondering if this was safe?
Any other tips on tidying it up would be good as im a bit of a rookie at this

there are modular power supplies now to make cable management easier

Thanks for the replys, I will try braiding the sata cables as suggested.
Whats the best stuff to buy?
