I have an AC1200i PSU, and I want to sleeve all of my cables individually!

Should I mod the cables that came with it?

Or should I make up custom cable looms?

I'm perfectly happy doing either!

I just want a bit of advice.

You could also buy extensions and modify them if you want. The additional voltage drop across the connections will be negligible.

If you have the capability then custom looms would be ideal as you can create the exact lengths you need.

Custom looms are the way to go and fun. You get the satisfaction of making the cables exactly as you want them, takes a bit of time, but the result is worth it.

Does it matter what AWG18 wires I use?

Thinking about it, I think it will make sense to customize all of my looms, as the 900D I'm putting this into is HUGE and getting the wires to the right places might be a little tight.

Just some thoughts on that...
Work on one cable at a time.
Electrically check your connections with a multimeter on diode setting.
Do a visual comparison side by side with the modular looms.

As for cable as long as it's 18AWG then any of the UL rated would be fine, although the only reason they actually use UL rating is for USA use but at least it is then readily available through eBay and the like.

My only input would be to use 550 Paracord rather than traditional cable sleeve!

+1 on using paracord, it works great for sleeving when used with heat shrink tubing. Paracord is readily available fro UK suppliers and its cheap usually about £7 for 100ft.

Sorry, by pin changes I meant:
You do a cable at one end of : black/red/black/red but at the other end it has to be black/red/red/black because the pins are 1-1, 2,2, 3-4, 4-3

With extensions its straight forward, with original cables from a PSU its often a little tougher to sleeve them, and should only really be done one at a time.

Ah right. If there isn't a 1-1 relationship then if you really wanted red/black/red/black then you'd have to half sleeve some cables with different colours so you get the pattern at both ends. Still do one at a time though. Removes a potential issue.
