Cable > Modem > Router problem.

Hello,

I am trying to setup a network so that I can have my PC and 360 connected at the same time, so I got a Linksys BEFSR41W Router. Also, I am with Telewest 10mb Cable.

I can get it all setup so that my PC recognises the router, and I can access the web setup page, but there is no connection between the rotuer and the modem, meaning I have no net access when it is all setup.

When i set it up, i turned EVERYTHING off, and even left them overnight, then I booted the modem, left it for a few minutes, then booted the router, then left that a few minutes, and finally my PC. I went through step by step with the linksys instructions too, but to no avail.

I am wondering if it is to do with the MAC addresses, because while everything is still on, if I switch the ethernet cables so my PC is connected directly to my modem, the net comes straight back up.

I have tried MAC cloning on the router settings which doesn't work, and as I said, I have left things with no power overnight in an attempt to sort it out. But nothing is working and I am at a complete loose end here. PLEASE can someone help?

BACK OF THE NET!!!!

It was the cable, I was using the wrong type, so I used a proper CAT5 cable and it worked first time. I can't believe I wasted 2 hours last night and it was down to the cable.
