I tried to talk the missus through connecting her WRT54GS(UK) to her NTL supplied USB/Ethernet modem. Got wifi working, all was well, but it just won't talk to the modem over ethernet. The modem works fine over USB t another PC (which doesn't have onboardLAN/lan card.).

2 questions really. 1 what is the exact process for getting router to talk to modem because i'm not there in person to fiddle and find out, calling from london to lincoln which isn't the cheapest phone call and rather just say do this this this and get off the phone.
2. in light of the fact her mum's PC doesn't have a netwrok card as i initially assumed, can the modem run both USB and ethernet at the same time?? (i doubt it, but ya never know)
I have a WRT54GS but its connected to a Speedtouch 510 ADSL modem so i'm working blind in unfamiliar territory.

Edit: Modem model number: 60194E-A12

I know the modems cant run USB and ethernet

In terms of my modem and router, i simply plug it in (its a belkin pos so i know urs must be better) and it works, tho sometimes i unplug the modems power if it doenst work straight away.

+MY modem which is REALLY old, is a bit dodgy on USB so i wouldn't use it if possible just get a nic.

hope this helps, but id oubt it did, someone else will be more technical :D

You'll probably have to go through the power cycling thing.
Modem and router off, modem on, wait for lights to stop flickering, router on.
