Cable question

Proxfx750 just got it today. The thing is my crosshair v formula z has 24pin - 8 pin and 4 pin to push overclocking. The psu came with 24 and 2x4pin which ill plug into the 8pin slot - buy i wanted to make use of the 4pin slot too

I would like to get it to 5ghz! And one of the asus rog which was for 4.8ghz stated that to achieve this you need that plugged in as it helps

Cant use the 2nd cable cause im alteady using the 8 pin and for the 1st cable if its okay for now but what if i wanna crossfire :/

Can't you plug one of the 4pin plugs into the 4pin slot and connect the adapter to the other 4pin plug and plug that into the Cpu 8pin slot.

Unless your doing extreme overclocking then don't worry :D
according to 8 Pack you don't even need it for that, asked a similar question when i got my mobo in sig, board has an 8 and 4 pin atx plug but my psu only has an 8 pin plug.

no it has 24pin and 2x4 pin which become an 8 - however i had a quick look and this psu is suppose to come with 2x6pci and 2x8pci cables and i see that 3 of them are labled with pci on it but one of the 8 is not? but the code writing on it matches the one that is also 8pin but has it labled. Im just wondering whether this could be used as a PCI 8pin and a 8pin for CPU ?

According to: http://rog.asus.com/216552013/cross...g-fx-8350-to-4-8ghz-on-crosshair-v-formula-z/

''The Crosshair V Formula-Z is equipped with an additional 4-pin CPU power connector. While fitting it isn’t necessary, it can help the stability of high-level overclocks such as the one we’re attempting here. If your PSU doesn’t have one spare, don’t worry!''

But did you read some of the replies in the forum. And have you actually tried OC'ing without the extra 4pin power connector. Some guys were getting 5-6Ghz without it, although they don't all say what Psu they are using.
What's the rest of your system specs?

Check sig for specs but i need to update it as i got a new psu and ssd replaced my corsair600w psu woth xfxpro750 and ssd replaces kingston with crucial

I'd wait until you're up and running. If you can't get a stable 5Ghz without the extra 4pin EPS, then look at getting the 4pin-8pin adapter.
