Hello

Im using a Belkin wireless G f5d723g-4 (lol name) and im wondering if mines faulty or if this is "normal."

When i use torrents, after i switch off my Utorent app. The router will "freeze up" and i have to reboot it.

Also my lappy is downstairs most of the time in the lounge and quite frequently in order to connect wirelessly ill have to reboot the sodding belkin. This seems to happen at least 3-4 times a week.

Is this do with the routers internal memory being flooded ?? Its bloody annoying when its working its fine, its just the constant attention it needs.

I'm considering taking a hammer to it. If i did what would be a better replacement. No need for 300gbit 2km range stuff - just a decent reliable on 24/7 jobby that will happily cope with my 10mbit DSL line.

It's not unusual for routers to not like you throwing potentially thousands of connections at them but some make life hard for themselves by keeping old connections in memory longer than necessary and Belkin are generally crap.

a decent reliable on 24/7 jobby that will happily cope with my 10mbit DSL line.

It's either xDSL or it's cable. The latter is not the former.
For cable, the Linksys WRT54GL is fairly stable (especially with third party firmware) and not expensive. Like the Belkin, it only does 802.11g though.

limit the number of connection utorrent uses ..say 200 globle and 200 for the other 1.last time i had a router that did this was when i up graded to 10 meg and it cudnt handle it .

or u cud get the netgear they now give out free for new customers, there 25 on ebay ,, im on 10 meg and had no problem with it 24/7 utorrent on ....
