Cable router speed?

Basically, me and my uni housemates have decided to get NTL 10mb cable installed, they want wireless (3 of them) and I want it directly attached to my PC. They only browse the web, and won't be doing any downloading or p2p, so I thought the Linksys WRT54G-UK would be fine.

My question is, will the cable modem be attached to the router, and then to my PC? And if so, will this decrease the speed at all, compared to if my PC was attached directly to the cable modem, instead of going through the router?

Cheers :)

Yup, the cable modem will plug into the router via an ethernet cable and then you'll use another ethernet cable to plug the router into your PC. It shouldn't decrease the speed at all.

I'd go with the WRT54GS, it's got twice as much memory as the plain G. Makes runnig the third party firmwares much eaisier, that way you know the other people arent using P2P on your connection.
