Great you can shop trade but you've totally missed the point

A refurb'd GS pre 3.0 has 32MB ROM and 8MB RAM enabling you to run significantly more additional modules. Nothing produced by Linksys this year has those spec's, nothing to do with your or anyone elses finances, the best you will find retail is the GL with 16/8 but it all depends on what you want/need.

as i dont even know what a module is, i suspect i wont be using one much lol!

i just want a box that hardly ever drops, and allows me to torrent away without it keeling over/dropping out on them to try and make the most of my (to be) 2MB line...

I have v23 of dd-wrt flashed to my WRT54G v2. I want to upgrade to v23 SP2 - if I do so will it clear all the settings I have set, e.g. wireless security, port triggers, DHCP settings and the like?

Well, I went ahead and did it anyway

It worked fine, flashed the firmware in no time at all and I didn't even have to power it off/on. The only thing is, it's changed my username & password combo

Can't get into the router to change any settings - suggestions anybody?

IIRC (i'm about 40 miles away from a router to test) if you go into the firmware upgrade tab it gives you the option to reset after a flash or preserve settings but i could be totally wrong.

You are right, I ticked the box to 'not make any changes' - it saved all my other settings except the the most important one, the one you need to access everything else :rolleyes:

. Anyway, just spent an hour setting everything up again and all is well.

More memory = more room for a bigger NAT table = less likely to keel over with dozens of connections...
